The 400th anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations made using a telescope by Galileo Galilei - the forefather of modern astronomy - is being marked by the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.

But a commonly-held mistake is that Galileo invented the telescope himself.

greg wasn't *that* good ;). Anyway it'd cause all sorts of theological issues making Greg a god. Could you imagine the list of commandments? Live life according to the good book Astronomy Now...
