Title: Jupiter with Red Spot
Post by: MarkS on Jul 28, 2008, 02:10:52

Jupiter shortly before midnight on 27 July.
SPC 900 webcam on Celestron C11 with x2 Barlow.
300 frames of 0.2 sec stacked in Registax then deconvolution applied
Final image size then scaled by 2/3

I also tried an IR pass filter with the SPC webcam.  It did reveal extra detail and needed less severe deconvolution but but I couldn't stop the ringing round the edge.  I think it really needs a monochrome camera.

But is that another spot to the left and down and also to the up and right of the main one?

Infra-red on the left and visible light on the right:

I am having a go at this with the 6" Mak/Cass & DMK, tonight, Mark. Wonder if I get the same "spots"

I realised I would not be up for the spot. My jupiter is not too good.
