Title: M57
Post by: Fay on May 20, 2008, 20:34:36
Went outside last night with thoughts of doing image of Virgo galaxies. Moon was too big & bright, also I was not sure if I was in the best area or the constellation.  Anyway changed tack, changed all the equipment around & went to M57, but my first image using flats I was very pleased, checked to see if it had worked. So processed again, this morning, without flats & could see all these dust bunnies, so it had worked, well pleased.

It was 9x300 secs with 20 flats/ flat darks. M57 is much too bright, but I suppose it would have to be done with varying image lengths. Could have got more out of it but M57 was way too bright.

I'm glad you've got flats sorted now.
The image is great - you can even see IC1296!

If you look closely the guiding is slightly off and you need to bring the whitepoint down a bit on the histogram. However, it is a darned good image Fay. Well done.
