Title: M31
Post by: Fay on Oct 15, 2007, 14:11:37
M31 6x600 secs. Should have been LRGB but guiding went wrong.

That's a nice result after all the issues you had last night - Nice round stars for 10min subs & expertly processed - not clipped the whites or blacks - all your recent reading about processing etc. is paying dividends. You can always get the RGB another night. I take it this was with the CLS... I would be pleased with that.

John.

Thanks a lot, I did get 3xR & one G but I would have been there all night if I had kept carrying on. I did use the CLS filter.
I was hoping to get the spiral in Cepheus but when the guiding was going in the wrong direction, I spent so long trying to get the webcam right that I lost the spiral.

I did the suggestion in this months Prac Astro doing another layer & using Equalise.

Fay - In MaximDL you can do a full colour pic with just an R and a G channel as it will synthesise the Blue itself. Just choose the two colour option in the colour processing section.

That is interesting Mike.

I will have a go.

Thanks,

Thanks a lot. Not up to the standard of John & Chris, but there is time.
