Title: My first LRGB Guided Image. The Crescent Nebula NGC 6888
Post by: Fay on Sep 06, 2007, 15:52:21
This was L = 5 x 600 secs, RGB = 1 x 60 secs each.

Ha & CLS filters. I meant to take more images, but as Cygnus went past the zenith, the guiding went a bit off. I took the RGB images, but as I have had so much to learn & am still learning, I did not think I would use them.

John said he would have a go at layering the colours in PS, as I am not familiar with  this process yet, & he made a fine job of it.

I will now carry on & learn layers as I think it made all the difference to the image. I am quite pleased with this one!!

Fay - only 'quite pleased' Understatement of the year - I'd be gobsmacked with an image like that.. It's great - there is so much detail in the shock waves etc. the long exposures & your Ha filter really helped bring this out. I think this one is definitely a contender for the calendar.... You should be well chuffed after all your efforts...

John.

Hi Fay,

That's an excellent image and now you have done it guided etc in RGB then you should be able to carry on with getting some nice images.

This image is showing the whole jellyfish and is really nice; I would be pleased with it.  Well done, the stars are sharp and colours are nice.

Fay !! Wow!! What can I say - It totally blows away my attempt at the Crescent I did a few years back. The detail is excellent and the focus is spot on. Well done.

Thankyou, Mike & Chris, John & Rick, very kind of you.

I must say, we all well earn these images, I don't know how I am not in the mad house!!!!!!!

I don't think there will ever be a time, for any of us, when you can say, I know it all & oh, I don't have any problems with kit etc now!

It is an ongoing thing, but when you have earned & got that elusive great image, the reward is great!
I have yet to get there, but this one is a good start.

Now that's another target IC443 - The JellyFish Nebula in Gemini - put that on the TODO list it looks great...
