I seem to be getting more dust & bits on my filters than ever before.
Could it be that I am interchanging them more & bits come off of the screw thread in each filter?
Fay
Hi Fay,
It's hard to tell where the dust comes from without taking a look at how you use your filters etc. Most of mine are on a filter wheel & this seems to do a reasonable job of keeping them clean. I make sure both ends of my filter wheel are capped when not in use (in fact my camera tends to stay permanently attached to one end) & I also put it all in a plastic bag. I do change filters etc. ocassionally by hand but don't seem to suffer from the problems you have. I assume you cap or put in filter boxes etc. when not in use..? I honestly can't suggest anything else...

Yes, I have the LRGB filters on the filter wheel, in a bag, but I have not used those yet. I mean the IR, FR & CPL. They are all in their cases unless being used. The cameras also have a plain protection filter on at all times, plus their protection caps.
Being I am interchanging them more between cameras, I was thinking it was coming from the threads of the filters.

I'd take a look at the bags and cases that you're using. Some fabrics and sponge seem to be magnets to dust, or even generating it themselves.
Do you have a blower brush? A quick puff and dust with one of those will help, particularly if done regularly.
Yes, I have got a blower brush. The filters are in the cases they came with.
I always seem to have enough debris for a small fire!!
