Title: M1 - The Crab Nebula
Post by: JohnP on Jan 29, 2006, 21:42:21
Hi All,

Wasn't sure whether to post this - I popped out briefly last night & only intended doing a quick bit of visual but ended up popping the SC3 in just before I packed up. I literally captured 20 X 10 sec frames at prime of MN56 - only filter used was Baader IRB. I was suprised at how the image came out given such a short integration time. I'm determined to give this a 2nd attempt when I have more time - much longer exposure & perhaps use the Ha filter - it would also look good in colour.

Cheers,  John.

Pretty good John. The stars are a teensy weensy bit egg shaped, but pretty good. That may have been the seeing.

Thks Paul - I was impressed with only a 200 sec total exposure... I must try my Ha next time out & go for much longer total exposure..

Cheers,  John

Hi John,

That looks pretty smart to me for a £90 deep sky camera.  It looks like some longer integration times would help a bit, but to be honest it looks better than my old SAC8 image.

Cheers Chris - Yep longer integration & a Ha should work wonders. I'm hoping to pick up some RGB filters at a bargain price at Astrofest on Friday.....
