Title: M51 - Whirlpool Galaxy - DSC
Post by: JohnP on Aug 09, 2005, 11:16:58
Hi All,

Attached an image of M51 taken using EOS 300D at prime focus on my 6-inch Newt - Image is the sum of 8 X 60sec exposures. This was a hard image to capture as it was quite low down in the direction of Maidstone (so lots of light pollution). Still I'm pleased to have captured it - next time I'll have to try for lots more exposure. I converted the image to B&W to get rid of orange sky glow etc... Chris (thks) also informed me that I captured a SuperNova (2005cs) which is at the 5'0clock position just to the SE of the main galaxy core.

Thks,  John.
