Title: Cosmic super-highway
Post by: MarkS on Nov 27, 2016, 15:03:01
Friday night I tried imaging the Witch Head Nebula near Rigel.  Conditions were a bit murky to be honest.

Of course it passes through the area of sky where all the geostationary satellites live so I created a 140 frame animation of what looks like a cosmic superhighway.

For best quality download it first to your PC.

You can just about make out where the Witch Head is because of the absence of stars.

Great Scott! I thought it was mostly full of stars!) Love the bit where a whole cluster go past, wonder how close they really were.

Good idea and quite a revelation too.  It's getting quite crowded up there isn't it !
