Title: M42 HaRGB Re-process
Post by: Carole on Feb 22, 2016, 12:02:59
Not being able to do any imaging for a while (weather or clear skies co-inciding with Moon or nights out), I had another "go" at re-processing this image.

Coloured data taken from my DSLR image from 2011 and Ha taken in February 2015.

DSLR modified Canon 450D 26 x 5mins ED120
Ha WO ZS71 & Atik 314 7 x 20 + 10 x 40secs
Total 4 1/2 hours

Not a patch on Mark's rendition, but I think this is an improvement.

This was the original reprocess, I think I oversharpened it:

That looks pretty good to me Carole.  I prefer it to the original.

You've got a better blue colour around the periphery of the Orion Nebula.

Thanks Mark, and Fay.  I think it is always good to go back to old data and see what you can get out of it as our processing skills get better.

I have one similar to that Carole.

Mark you are quiet, have you been productive?

I was on holiday around the last new moon so no imaging recently.  I'm currently working hard on an astro-processing talk for AAS this Friday.

Hoping for clear skies starting this weekend :)

I have some star trails running. have had cortesone injections in both thumbs, so have to rest them a bit for a few days, hence not doing anything serious

I have always wanted to go to that hotel you stayed at in Malaysia, Mark, in a bungalow in the sea

Our one was on the land but I would have loved to try one in the sea.
