Title: First attempt at some astrophotography
Post by: smuudge on Jun 26, 2015, 12:07:44
Hi, not had my scope long (Celestron 130SLT) but thought i would share a couple of snaps from last night (in Chelsfield). Using my Nikon D3100. Any advice on how to get the most of this setup will be most welcome!

Not sure how to embed my FlickR images here so apologies in advance if it doesn't work!

Very nice images.  The 2nd one looks in better focus.

Sorry, what's your name.  Are you a member of OAS or just the forum?

Once upon a time Flickr did provide a way of getting the BBCode you needed to drop a picture into a forum. Wouldn't be that surprised to find the function has vanished along the way, though...

Great pics Ben.

The BB code option is available in Flickr. I use it regularly. Click on the share icon and you will see some sub-options, one of which is grab link, one is BB code.

It works! Thanks Kenny! Here they are embedded. I actually have a question about my setup. I am currently using a Nikon O ring adaptor that holds a barlow lens that then slots into the scope allowing me to take shots like below. What do i need to be able to use my other eyepieces with the camera, is that even possible!? Thanks!

Hi Ben, there are some adaptors out here that will fit over a 1.25" eyepiece. Look up eyepiece projection and afocal projection, Here's an informative piece (half way down) (http://www.opticstar-ccd.com/Run/AS/AS-Editorial.asp?p=0_10_19_1_6_200_30).  This is the sort of thing you would need (http://www.scopesnskies.com/prod/60.html).
