Title: Integrated Flux Nebula with Sony A7S
Post by: MarkS on May 14, 2015, 22:03:12
This was just a quick experiment last night with the Sony A7S on the Tak Epsilon - 2 hours of data.

The gradients across the image were horrendous - it really needs a darker site and maybe a light pollution filter also.  But a target like this would only usually be tackled with a cooled mono CCD.

I'll have another go at this and do it properly next time.

Do I regret not buying a cooled mono CCD?  I think not!!!

Is this 90s subs again? And just co-added in IRIS. Looks like it's gone really deep.

This was one of my expectations for the camera so I'm glad that's being borne out.

Shows great promise :)

Why's it B&W - thought your camera was colour ;-)

Looks very promising....

Pretty amazing, I agree with comments above including:
QuoteWhy's it B&W - thought your camera was colour

and How long were the subs?

The subs were actually 5 minutes.  30sec subs would have given identical results because of the low read noise but without burning out the galaxy cores

B&W because I summed RGB to reduce noise.  Next attempt will be colour.
