Title: Comet Lovejoy with the Pleiades - 18 Jan

Comet Lovejoy passes the Pleiades.

Canon 600D with 50mm lens at f/5.6   
Stack of 12 exposures of 5min each at ISO 800 then cropped.

I love this image.

The funny thing is the comet is actually travelling up the image, the tail is at nearly right angles to the motion.

Another brilliant image. Love the nebulosity in the Pleiades. Lots of detail in the comet again.

If you think about it, that's exactly right.  The comet is moving around the sun whilst the tail points directly away from the sun.
