Title: Lovejoy, Pleiades and Hyades 16 Jan
Post by: MarkS on Jan 17, 2015, 01:10:19
Friday night (16 Jan). Comet Lovejoy passes near the Pleiades and Hyades.  35mm lens on Canon 600D at f/4 on a tracking mount. 10 exposures of 5 minutes at ISO 800 stacked together.  Image then cropped.

The tail stretches all the way back to Epsilon Tauri - the star forming the right hand side of the bull's head where Aldebaran is the left hand side.

Awesome! Processing my data now... I don't think it is going to be anywhere as good as this...

Mark. Is it possible to plot multiple Comet sightings onto the same starfield so you can see it's progress through the sky?

Great idea!  I'll think about that ...
