Ian

why do so few people seem to see this as a criminal waste of energy?

Mike

Exactly. Enough energy to see streetlights from space !!! And that is coming out of YOUR tax !!!
We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology. Carl Sagan

Although not directly connected with light pollution for astronomy, this address just up on the bbc site is interesting http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3010953.stm

Ian

I read that. Does that mean I can get the council to switch the streetlight off outside our bedroom window for good of my health?

Although the report considered children and the use of nightlights and such it is a general comment that generally the western world has forgotten what dark is.

Rick

Light pollution got a slot on Today (Radio 4) this mrning. Guy from the CPRE was being interviewed. He completely forgot to mention the economic costs of light pollution. Had the opportunity to as well.

Other than that, wasn't a bad report.
