V1647 ORIONIS AND ASSOCIATED NEBULA
C. Aspin, Gemini Observatory; and B. Reipurth, University of Hawaii, report on observations made on Aug. 30UT at the Gemini 8-m
telescope on Mauna Kea of V1647 Ori a star embedded in McNeil's Nebula
upon its re-emergence in the morning twilight. The object has faded by approximately one magnitude in r passband since January 8. McNeil's nebula itself has also faded considerably.  The duration of the outburst so far exceeds 21 months according to IAUC 8600.
