Amateur scientist transformed his Littleover home into mini space research centre

(This is from a few years back, and not local to Orpington, but appeared in the BAA's Radio Astronomy Group...)

These great photos, taken in 1996, were used to illustrate a fascinating feature on an amateur scientist who turned his Littleover home into something akin to space research centre Jodrell Bank.

Sky watcher Kenneth Stevens, then aged 80, transformed his Oaklands Avenue home into a small but hugely successful observatory, which intercepted signals from Russian satellites and created a world's first radio picture.
