wanted to do a lot more subs but meridian flip got in the way. I have to watch it as pier shelf gets in the way when imaging at zenith. Would take it off but it is handy.

Wow! that's lovely Fay, so much detail in the wall itself and very smooth, amazing image especially for the 80ED with it's wide FOV.

:O)

The image does not appear for me ...

Thanks very much. I was quite pleased with it.

Looks very good Fay, shame about the pier flip as more subs would have brought out a lot more detail too.

I can see it now I'm home from work.  Very nice - smooth, good detail and lots of contrast.  It's well framed making it a very interesting composition.

Fay

Mark, that is very kind of you, thanks

Thanks Paul, it was nice to an image rather than mess about with the Orion

Looking good Fay - Sounds like you need to remove shelf so you can do a few more hours before having to flip..... Are you planning on adding to this?

John

Fay

Thanks John, yes, i would like to add a few more

Fay,
If you remove the fixing bolts for your shelf then cut a section of it off, you could rotate it out of the way.
If you leave the big central hole uncut, it won't fall off.
Something like this -   (if it works)

That is a very good idea, Mick. I will really consider it, could be the answer, even though it did cost £50

mickw

Would it be worth £50 to have your problem go away ?

Not talking about total destruction (for some unknown reason) just making it smaller   ;)

I have contacted Pulsar Optical & they say they do a pier extension. I said I would like it to be 4-6" higher to avoid shelf collision.
Waiting to see what they suggest.

All your cables will have to be 4"-6" longer as well then  ;)

So you can go a couple of feet higher on the pier then ?

Do you have a ladder  ;)

Fay,

I was just waiting for you and Mick to finish discussing the shelf on the pier to say what a great image you produced, even if the shelf gets in the way.  ;)
I wish I had a shelf like that, so I could get some good images.  :-?

mickw

Why would you want an image of a shelf ?

I didn't, I thought it was a new type of camera or something.  :-?

I was thinking.....if I get a 5" pier extension, i would have to have a mount bolt 5" higher, also a bolt that long may not fit into the owls nest for insertion into the mount.

I would have thought the pier extension fitted between the owls lest and the pier, so the mount bolt should still be OK.

Or have I got it all wrong again

Fay

Well the owls nest is firmly fitted
