It is healthier to be mutton dressed as lamb, than mutton dressed as mutton!

A lot better than many of the APOD images that are posted... excellent - thks for sharing..

What an exceptional image !

I had been thinking of going down that same scope route but there's nowhere never enough time :(  I also think 200hrs of mirror grinding would lead to some domestic unrest ...

Robert you are getting funnier!!!

Hope you have hidden all this new camping stuff from Julia, as it does suggest you plan to do a lot of it in the future!!!!

He used the Optec FR, as well

She was 'amused' in the way that only a woman can be

What scope was it - I had assumed it was his Newt ?

Interesting to compare this image with today's APOD - it's amazing how different the detail is in each..

What a coincidence.  Yes, it's a very interesting comparison!

Two different types of capture, the SGL version is bi colour with a synthesised third channel added whereas the APOD is RGB enhanced with NB.  The pure NB version will nearly always show more detail in the nebula since adding broadband data will tend to wash out the detail unless added sympatheically.
