Title: Mars
Post by: The Thing on Oct 01, 2020, 11:11:28
My old Meade 8" SCT did a sterling job on this occasion. I took 100k+ frames in total as Mars approached zenith. This image is 30% of 5000 processed using AstroSurface NOVA  (2020-09-12       http://Astrosurface.com) for the first time after having a go with Autostakkert!3, PlanetarySystemStacker (hopeless on this image) and good old Registax. AstroSurface NOVA has a bit of a 'different' interface but excellent tools, I will use it again. Firecapture details underneath. Original capture only 100px across the planet.

Target=Mars, Date: 280920, Time: 001314 UT, Mag: -2.43, Dia: 22.26, Res: 0.22, Az: 161.10, Alt: 45.69, Phase: 0.98, CM: CM=316.3°

Excellent!  Seeing has gone downhill over here since this week.  The previous two had some nights of very good seeing.  I hope conditions improve as we approach opposition and maximum size.

That's really excellent Duncan.  Astrosurface NOVA, not heard of that one but will take a look.

Well done Duncan
Lovely amount of detail there:
Syrtis Major, Arabia, Hellas and Sinus Meridiani judging by the map in this months AN.

Thanks guys, hopefully the cloud will clear for opposition and I can have another go.
