Title: The very first astroimagers
Post by: JohnH on Feb 20, 2022, 11:37:53
There is a fascinating new exhibition just opened at the British Museum "The World of Stonehenge". One of the star exhibits is the Nebra Disc which is said to be the first recognisable image of the stars, it very clearly shows the Pleiades (several thousand years before Messier) as well as the Sun and Moon:

We made the mistake of booking the last slot of the day which meant that we only had an hour to see the entire exhibition, this was not enough time, we needed at least two hours.

Well worth a visit.
