Hi all,
I wonder if someone can point me in the right direction to fix a problem. When I go onto Youtube like I did this evening via Fay's link, everything loads onto the page, but the actual video doesn't start, and just keeps buffering, if I click onto another video on the same page, it again loads everything else onto the page apart from the video which was chosen, which just continues to load.
This seems to only happen on Youtube, as I've tried other sites like www.wimp.com, and can view videos on here.

Looks like they are both Adobe Flash based, I can view both of them with Flash 10.
What version Flash are you using ?
Might pay to check for an update.
Mick,
I reinstalled Flash 10, which is what I had to start with. :-?

The authors don't seem to understand the irony are dicks
wow they took all that time to make a video instead of just saying
Clear your internet cache and delete your cookies.
Way faster. ;)
Mac.
You're obviously a plain language man. But when it comes to art you just can't hurry the artistic process
Well, deleted all the cookies and Youtube works again. :)
Now I can watch Fay's New Year Youtube video.

Well that lasted long......not. :!
The same thing is happening again with Youtube, and I've deleted cookies and everything again, and it still will not load.
Any other suggestions? :-?

Get rid of internet explorer and use something else,
try google chrome.
http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en-GB/landing_tv.html (http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en-GB/landing_tv.html)
i've not had any problems using it.
Mac.
I agree with Mac but if you use the "tools and toolbar" a lot in IE it will take a bit of getting used to finding the commands but you don't have to remove IE until you're happy with Chrome.
One great thing with Chrome is that if you have it installed on more than one machine, you can synch all your "favourites/bookmarks" to all machines
really love chrome. Have recently put it on & have got used to it
I would have thought leather would be more your style. Don't you find chrome a bit difficult to move around in ?
Ha Ha very funny Robert, still thinking about...."leather may be more my style"
Well chrome didn't work and caused a few problem on the way as well, and so its back to square 1 and asking 'can anyone help me with this problem' :!
Tony G
QuoteWell chrome didn't work and caused a few problem on the way as well,
what sort of problems?
Mac,
The Chrome didn't solve the problem with Youtube, and I wasn't keen on the look and layout of the new programme, and so uninstalled it. Then when I went to click on any of my shortcuts on the desktop, a message would appear telling me that there was no path to this shortcut or something. I then had to carry out a system restore which seems to have solved that problem (but a lot of the shortcut icons still have the chrome emblem on them), but the Youtube issue is still there, which has only happened over the last couple of weeks. :!

Think I had this problem, did not like Chrome & reverted back, and went and made Internet Explorer default again. But had to re sign in to all sites like this one.
I have given it a chance & like it now
Has there been a change in the parental control thing or security settings that would stop IE allowing access to Youtube material ?
are you using ie8 if so have you tried to reset the browser?
goto tools internet options
select advanced
click on restore advanced settings
and then click on reset
tick the box and then allow it to do its bit,
reset ie and then try you tube again.
If its still not working,
disable you firewall and then try it again,
it might be the fact that your firewall is blocking access.
Mac.
:( :( :(
I have tried everything that has been suggested, but to no avail.
What is baffling me is that it is only Youtube, and everything on the page loads up, and some videos run for a couple of seconds and then freeze and buffer and buffer and buffer............................ :!

Tony, there area lot of help articles on web, have you seen them? One said clear cache & cookies, but there were a lot of other's regarding YouTube
Tony, are you sure Youtube is worth the effort mate???
Found a couple of things
Google Web Accelerator - If you've got it, get rid of it.
Apparently Flash 10 can cause problems - Doh
Flash 9 is here http://www.oldapps.com/flash_player.php?old_flash_player=14?download (http://www.oldapps.com/flash_player.php?old_flash_player=14?download)
Apparently Zillatube works as a downloader and it's free (Realplayer also downloads but that's horrible)
Zillatube here http://www.zillatube.com/ (http://www.zillatube.com/)
Apparently Youtube also uses Java - Assorted info here http://forums.whatthetech.com/youtube_videos_buffering_forever_t85398.html (http://forums.whatthetech.com/youtube_videos_buffering_forever_t85398.html)
Hope something helps :-?

A good point, well made...
:o
.....Update.....
Well, I installed Google Chrome, which didn't work, so uninstalled it, which created a couple of problems which I sorted.
I then uninstalled Adobe Flash and re-installed which didn't solve the problem. Mick put a few links up which I tried like uninstalling Java and re-installing, and guess what? that didn't work either, but everyone on one of the forums were saying to get rid of IE, which is what I have now done. I am now working with Mozilla Firefox, which seems to be running a lot quicker than IE ever did, but the Youtube issue is still there.
So the final conclusion is Youtube doesn't work :! but everything else is quicker :D
Sod Youtube :x

PS......................It is forbidden to put youtube links on this forum from now, as it only frustrates me. :!
At least you can find out YouTube is broken a lot faster ;)
