I am waiting on Pete to let me know the condition of the field - he is taking the tractor on it today or tomorrow, but all being well, who would like to come? As usual depending on the weather.
I already know about:
Roger (booked POD)
Rob in Romahome
Myself in my campervan
Roland (new person from SGL/Woolwich) Cabin
Mark + tent
Julian (campervan)
Any-one else?
I will update as soon as I know about the condition of the field.
Carole
Count me in. Mark + tent.
Mark
Great Mark.
Not heard back from Pete yet about the ground condition, but he accepted a booking for the Cabin yesterday. If I have not heard from him by tomorrow I will chase him.
Carole
Unfortunately I won't be able to join you all as I am recovering from the surgery :unwell:.
Hopefully Rob will still be bringing his Romahome.
Looking at the weather , it seems light rain on and off , if there is a enough of a quorum then may i suggest having perhaps an imaging/processing session or two I can offer the pod as a venue. For me i could do with some help with my StarAdventurer and Duncans Canon 1000d as its a different CCD than i am used to.
Roger
Sorry to hear that Rafal, hope you will be better soon.
Carole

It is always difficult to predict weather forecasts too far in advance, but if there is no chance at all of getting some imaging done we won't go. If we go and there are cloudy spells then we could perhaps have an imaging session, as you know most of our imaging members are only too happy to help learners provided they know about the kit you are suggesting.
Yes the POD would be an ideal place except for perhaps demonstrating the SA.
Will have to wait and see.
Still not had a reply from Pete and have chased him up by E mail. Will have to ring him if no reply soon.
Carole
Pete has replied and says provided we don't get a load more rain before next weekend the field should be OK.
So will have to "play it by ear" same as the weather forecast.
Carole
Friday is looking hopeful, but there are two lots of rain forecast before next weekend, so we need to make sure the field will be OK.
Carole
I will go whatever just to have a break from Worthing!
Arrive Thurs morn leave Monday morning.
Roger
Not looking very promising ATM for the weekend.
We'll take a look on Weds/Thurs and make a decision.
Carole
If the weather is ok, I will be going to :brolly:
Julian
I've added you to the list Julian, lets hope the forecast improves.
Carole
Can every-one make sure to look at this thread, to make sure DSC is still happening, before driving down to Cairds.
I know Roger wants to go regardless.

My own garden is very wet and squelchy. A week ago it did appear to be firming up but now, after the rain, it's reverted back to soft, muddy squelch :(
Mark
It is now forecasting snow for both Friday and Saturday night on my trusty forecast site.
Plus as you say Mark the ground is going to be very squelchy.
https://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/England/Ticehurst/long.html
We will make a decision on Wednesday evening I think, can every-one keep an eye on this thread. To be honest I can't see the forecast changing sufficiently for it to be possible to go.
Such a shame when we have a nice group of people gathered wanting to go for a change.
Carole
I've added a link on the main website back to this thread, but I expect most folk know to check here anyway.
Thanks Rick.
Carole
Well the forecast for Friday and Saturday has remained pretty much the same for the last two days. Saturday is still saying snow, no clear skies at all over the weekend unless you are able to stay over on Sunday, when it will be -2 with a moderate wind chill, which I don't fancy at all.
Plus I am sure the ground is still going to be somewhat soggy.
So I propose we cancel this weekend's DSC.
Hope you are all in agreement. I will E Mail Pete this evening.
Please can you confirm you have seen this notice.
Carole
Hi Carole
Thanks for the up date and I agree.
Julian
Fair enough but wish me well for Sunday night.
Roger
Small window of possible clear skies/clouds is creeping in for Friday night, but it's not showing in in detail until tomorrow.
But given the Saturday weather I think we should stick to cancelling.
Yes good luck Roger for Sunday.
Carole
Thanks Carole.
Unfortunately, it's the right decision.
If nothing else, it will be bitterly cold in those winds.
Mark
Thanks Mark and Julian, I hope the others pick up the message.
Hopefully it will be better next month and that every-one can come then.
I'll let Pete know.
Carole
Next month I will be at Kelling.
Julian
Wise decision. I will pass this info over to Rob.
Thanks Rafal.
Carole
I arrived about oneish and cant get into pod as no gas for hot water so Pete offered me a b&b room instead.
Its been sweltering hot all day and half the sky is a lovely blue to the south. Going to practice my SA mount and camera and if its clear Sunday i can do imaging outside here in a south facing field with outdoor hookup.
Roger
So is there hook up and south facing horizons at the B&B?
Carole
Just checked groud , very squelchy and wet and a couple of trees.
But south facing , yes.
Roger
Quotevery squelchy and wet
That reassures me we made the right decision. It's so lovely today I can't believe all that horrid weather is coming tomorrow.

Chilly but lovely views at Cairds B&B.
Still waiting for the "Least" from the east....lol
Roger
According to my forecast it will cloud up by 8pm and snow tomorrow evening with sub-zero temperatures.
Anyway, hope you manage to get something over the days you are there.
Carole
Well I think that was the right decision. :cheesy:
Snow has come earlier than predicted.

Just took this with the Canon 1000d i got from Duncan through an open window with a 75-300 Canon zoom lens.
First time i have used it , going to try same arrangement tomorrow if any clear skies.
Roger
Is it snowing there Roger, difficult to see from your photo, that's a nice shot of the Robin.
Still snowing in Bromley.
Carole
Only had about a centimeter this morning , none since then.
Most of it has gone now , drove out at 2 to get provisions , roads are fine so far.
Roger
People from SGL went to an Astro camp in Salisbury (including our Dave who comes to Cairds) and they are sitting in a field in thick snow.
How's it going Roger?
Carole
Snows thin on the ground but its about -2ish and colder in the wind during the day so if it clears tonight then the temperature will plummet further. Even the bird life seems to be taking cover from the cold as nothing about earlier when i took the binos out for a walk.
Roger
Can't believe it it is snowing again here.
