Title: Double Cluster Mosaic
Post by: JohnP on Sep 19, 2006, 10:07:23
A few weeks ago I took some individual frames of NGC 884 & 869 - since collectively they form the famous double cluster in Perseus I decided to try & mosaic them last night. It was quite an interesting exercise as I had to level backgrounds in the individual images & rotate one relative to the other.

It's not a fantastic image but shows a reasonable FOV. There is still a little mis-alignment noticeable but it was the best I could do...

I might try this again but with a few more frames...

Cheers,  John

Just as I finished up after taking M33 on Wednesday night I gave this a 2nd attempt - literally 20 X 10 secs - 2 frame mosaic... I aligned slightly better this time & got all of the two clusters in - Im going to try this in colour with the EOS when I get a chance...

Cheers,  John
