Post by: Ian on Dec 17, 2010, 11:56:23
As announced last night. We have a booking at the Blacksmith's Arms in Cudham (same as last year) on the 18th February. Muster at 7.30pm sit down at 8.

Cost will be somewhere aound £20 and we have a limit of 30 seats. I'll post a menu as soon as possible and will be taking orders and the money at the January meeting.

Hope you can join us, it was good fun last year :)

I've now been sent the menu from the blacksmiths arms for our dinner.

They've confirmed that the menu will be £22 per person. I'll post the menu here later today, it certainly looks to be as good as last year.

There's a sizeable carpark around the back, although I seem to remember that it's hard to not block each other in...

Yep there is a car park to the rear of the pub and it does get a bit crowded.
I seem to remember someone saying there is an overflow carp park about 100 yards away.  I had a look at streetview and it looks like the car park for the park/playing field although there is a sign that says "locked at dusk" - There's also a width restriction, I will try and check it out tomorrow to see if the van will fit cos it won't go in the pub car park  :-?

There is an "extra" car park in the recreation ground as I mentioned earlier.
It should get locked at dusk, but I'm told that would not be a problem  ;) ;)

I'm going down shortly to see if the van will fit through the gate - I may be asking a favour if it doesn't fit   :(

*Checked and the van goes through the gate  :) *

But will it still go through after they've locked it at dusk?

Had final confirmation from blacksmiths that they've received all our orders.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it. I need to be at a funeral in north London and won't be back in time.

Carole has all the details and Tom has the money.

I hope you have a good meal.

Mark - I'm hoping the gate bloke will be late, if  not I'll block the road and have a chat with "the man"  ;)

Ian That's bad - sorry to hear it

It's missing a few critical components - Tax, Insurance, MOT and warm weather  :(

I'm glad it all went well. I'll pass your thanks on to Blacksmiths.

and of course, thanks to Carole for stepping in at the 11th hour to handle arrangements on the night.

Same place next year, or shall we start casting the net around for a change?

I think parking can be a problem.

Might be nice to try some-where different.

Parking does not seem to be an issue any more - except behind the pub which does get to be a bit tight.  The public car park is also available.

By all means a change could be looked into.

It would also be an idea to make sure everybody is reminded of the meal choices that they have made before the meal is being served.

Yes i'd like to try somewhere else. We had a great Society Dinner at The George in Hayes once. They do good food there. We didn't go back the year after simply because they were under refurbishment.

Somewhere near Tenterden might suit me better next year ;-)

Mark ...... the road that leads down to the K&ES Railway station in Tenterden has a nice little pub on the corner.  Rose and I had a small nosh there and it wasn`t bad.  Cheap and cheerful, from what I can remember. Just in case your better half didn`t want to cook one day ......
