Watch out for ADSL glitches. It seems Alcatel are doing some upgrades to the equipment in exchanges, and there are reports that some kit has been less than happy afterwards. The Orpington exchange is scheduled for upgrade at 2am on 21st September, and the Farnborough one at 3:40 on the same date.

Details from http://www.zensupport.co.uk/service_status/BT/alcatel_upgrades.asp via http://www.adslguide.org.uk/newsarchive.asp?item=796

Ian

thanks for the heads-up. I'll expect the unexpected. (I've worked with BT before  )

At the moment the Solwise SAR-715 kit seems to be most prone to collapsing after the exchange is upgraded underneath it. It goes into a frenzy of disconnects and reconnects. Some unfortunate individuals have been experiencing them at the rate of one every ten seconds...

Alcatel kit seems to cope Ok.

Allegedly.

It seems there's more of these due...

hopefully my active monitoring systems should cope. They've worked quite well since I put it in place. Let me know if you have any problems.

Rick

I'm on the Farnborough exchange. If you're on Orpington you'll see the glitch first. If you're also on Farnborough...
