Title: M27 The Dumbell Nebula in Vulpecula
Post by: The Thing on Aug 18, 2020, 08:46:47
This was supposed to be a quick grab while it got properly dark after midnight but turned out much better than NGC6820!

20x120s, 10xDark, Flat, DarkFlat, Gain 120, Offset 4, Temp -15c. No cropping so iffy stars in one corner, Camera train wasn't square in the focuser.

Image date, time and location: 2020-08-06 Manche France
Telescope aperture and focal ratio: TS1506UNC f4, TS-Optics GPU superflat 2" Coma Correktor for Newtonian telescopes, 4-element
Camera and filters used: ZWO ASI296 MC Pro, Optolong 2" L-eNhance dual band
Processing applied: ASTAP. DarkTable

Thanks Carole. It's not bad for 40mins and absolutely no post processing except a little noise reduction in DarkTable.

Very good Duncan
The filter is doing well.
I notice your now doing flats and Darks; is that a change to your process?

Hi Noel,

I usually do flats, darkflats and darks, but sometimes I get wierd results and so progressively eliminate calibration frames. I went through a phase when I couldn't get a properly dark dark no matter what I did so left them out. That seems to have resolved itself though I don't don't do anything different.
