Title: Future Learn: Orion
Post by: Kenny on Jan 28, 2015, 15:13:19
Anyone else doing this MOOC? What do you think?

Week 1 was very very basic. Weeks 2 and 3 mix of revision and some new material, still aimed at the beginner.

It just struck me that this isn't a course on Orion... it's more like a basic introduction to astronomy. There's very little Orion-specific content in the course.

Yes I am doing it - I saw you were on there.

Yes really basic the first week, then suddenly it leaped into hypermode, must have been a shock for some of the people who've not studied it before going from something so simple.

As you say it's more of an introduction to Astronomy than Orion based.

Only learnt one new thing so far about Dark matter and dark energy which i was a bit hazy about before.

I am also on the course and agree with all your comments Kenny.  I am enjoying it nonetheless and they have given us a couple of interesting links e.g. The link for the database of exoplanets.  I had no idea they had found so many.
