Title: What is this...
Post by: RobertM on May 01, 2010, 23:01:32
I have something that looks like a flip finder but instead of having a mirror that can flip up it has a prism which doesn't.  All the fittings are 1.25" and it seems to be quite well made.  Approx. 50% of the beam goes to each output so it must be for viewing a fairly bright object.

For the life of me I can't think what it would be used for.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks
Robert

Sounds like 'it was a good idea at the time' to me. I've a couple of those in the bits box.

I saw something at Astrofest which was like a "turret eyepiece" sort of works like a filter wheel.

Could you use 2 eyepieces of different powers to get different views of the same object ?

Well, you could but would you want to.  I'm tempted to think Duncan may be right...

I'll advertise it on fleabay - you never know, someone might buy it :)
