Astrophotography / M82 HaLRGB

Hello all M82 or Cigar is a starburst galaxy approximately 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. Taken using Ha and LRGB. Tonbridge bortle5. Total of 16hrs across several dates in April and May. Bit of a challenge to process as my first go at HaLRGB.

That would be helpful Rick can't show them all but just send the best one (or two)

Astrophotography / M101 from DSC
Last post by Carole - May 17, 2024, 17:41:11
I took this back in 2016 when I didn't get enough data due to lack of clear skies.
This time I had a couple of disasters.

only 2 clear nights at DSC and one was misty.

Night 1. I took this with my dual rig ED80 taking LRGB ad Ed72 taking Lum only.
The following day I looked at the data and it was a disaster  the dew heaters had failed on the ED80, and the lum on the Ed72 was slightly out o focus, no idea why cheked it beforehand.

Night 2
Wanted to get the blue Horsehead so removed the ED72 and put the Samyang lens set up on instead.  This left me with only the ED80 (with new dew heater) to get more data on M101.

In total I managed to get only a further 4 Lum and 4 each of RGB beore the Blue Horsehead was rising.
A friend blasted the ED72 (out of focus) data with Blur Exterminator, but there was still not enough colour.

In total:
ED80/Atik460EX
ED72/ Arik460EX

Lum 22 x 600 (3h 40mins)
RGB 40 mins in total

Grand total 4h 20mins.
Needed some nifty processing to get a sikc purse out of a Sow's ear.

Absolutely stunning Rick.

I need to speak to Raf as to how I can get one of these videos onto the members images.  If all else fails I will do some screen shots
