Unfortunately, Rose and I will be unable to attend the Christmas Meeting as Rose has been taken into hospital with pneumonia, but want to wish all you guys and gals a very Happy Christmas and a super New Year.

It`s a great shame but Rose is having the treatment that she desperately needs for this as she has not been in the best of health for a while and we will miss Mike`s marvellous quiz   and all your enjoyable company.

So we will see you all when we can, in the New Year.

    Cheers,from Rug and Doze.
Always look on the bright side of life ...

Thanks for the quiz Mike, a very enjoyable evening.

Despite writing a reminder on my hand, I still managed to forget my calendar.

Arrived home at 12:45 after taking the wrong entry for M25 and heading West, then trying to get on East bound and ended up on M23 and having to go to Gatwick before being able to turn round - I hate night driving.

I blame your van - it simply heads for Blacklands Farm without thinking!!

I went digging for information about asteroid landings. It seems the first was NEAR Shoemaker, which landed on Eros on February 12, 2001 at approximately 20:01 UT. It was an end-of-mission event; a "what shall we do with it" bright idea rather than something planned from the beginning. Hayabusa was designed to grab a sample from an asteroid, and made a couple of attempts to grab material from the surface of Itokawa on November 23 and 25, 2005. The sample grabs were more "snatch in passing" than actual landing, but it did touch the surface, though its returned sample was microscopic; about a hundred grains of dust.
