This was taken at DSC. 18x300 secs with modified Canon 350D, ED80, 0.8FR. Guided with PHD/ ZS66. Will probably reprocess.

Wow Fay, Didn't realise you were doing the Rosette last night, although I guess I was too busy myself to notice.

Lovely image Fay (as usual).

Yep Fay - tremendous result & very well processed as well. A great result,  John

Looks stunning Fay, excellent framing, guiding and nicely in focus to my eyes.  There is a bit of noise in the fainter areas but I'm sure you can get rid of that with a bit more processing.

Rocket Pooch

Very good even with that green laser pointer roaming around...

Fay

Thankyou every one, they are very kind remarks

Great image Fay, and I think the comment about the laser was aimed at me, so my apologies for that.  :(

But as for the Khoom Fays thats another matter.

Fay,

You've captured some good detail there and there are some very faint bits beginning to appear.  It's also a good scale.  I think if you tone the processing down a bit it willl look a bit more natural.

It's not an easy target for a DSLR!

Tony, lasers.........that explains the two thick lines I had going through. I have spent ages trying to find the sub with the strong lines going across.
It is weird, the lines are strong when stacked but I cannot find them on the individual subs. Am I imagining this?

Mac, I was worried about my Canon batteries running out, as they went down quite fast, but have thought, they could have been charged up with your Jenny

Who is Jenny... Was she down there on Saturday night I didn't meet her...

Fay

Mark, I could not remember if I should set Auto White Balance or Camera White Balance in DSS for stacking DSLR images. Please can you remind me?

Thanks

Does that  sound right....................I could have charged up on Mac's Jenny?????????????????

Fay - I wasn't questioning your grammar just the spelling you used for 'Jenny' think it should be 'Genny' as in Generator... :-) I had some vision of Mac at DSC with a lady friend called Jenny....

Mac

Dont know who Jenny is, but she can charge my batteries anytime ;).

Time to start a new thred.

Fay, they may have been planes or satellites, as the laser was my finder scope laser which was only on for a split second before I heard the almighty howling coming from Space Dog's direction as he was imaging the Horsehead at the time and the laser was pointing at Orion.

Fay,

I've never taken any notice of which light balance I use.  In any case,  I always seem to end up adjusting the RGB balance as a final stage of processing.

Blimey! Thats one bright Rosette Fay!

Nice job mate.

Baz.

Fay

No, I know you wasn't, John. Did not realise it was a Genny eg generator  I get there in the end

I thought I would re stack rosette & add 3 earlier one's I had taken.

When I originally stacked, I was using a newer version of DSC, & with SIgma, it cured the laser lines. The new version has a lot of new functions so I thought I would rather carry on with my old version, which I reinstalled, as I did not think the result was good enough.

Do you think I can get rid of those lines????????? I have tried everything. They definitely do not show up in the individual subs!!!!!!!!!!

I spent ages opening them all up indivually, importing into PS, processing a bit, still the lnes did not show up. I have stacked doing a process of illimination, doing just 3 at a time, then taking note of the subs with laser lines. Opened them up, & they do not show until stacked.
I am now going to reinstall the newer version of DSS.

Fay,

I can't see the thick lines in your image.

That was stacked in the new version of DSS, Mark, although I found it hard to process & thought I would do it again with the old version, which I was used to.

Could not get the lines to go, tried for hours, redownloaded the new version again & it worked.
